PUBLISHER'S NOTE: The purpose of this record is to act as an introduction for gramophone record dealers, and the general public, to the forthcoming series of fourteen records that will compromise the Field Guide to the Bird Songs of Britain and Europe. It is being produced in a limited edition only and aims to provide a selection of recordings that will give an indication of the style and content of the new Field Guide.

These recordings, which were originally made in the field monophonically, have been subsequently converted [...] electronically to a form of stereo for stereophonic reproduction.
