Notes

Weather Resonance Loops
...is clearly a concept album. The idea behind it was to use a fieldrecording of a
thunderstorm which i took from my kitchen window and loop four significant parts of each
3 minutes out of it. These were used as raw sounds but also on another track played
through a resonating filterbank.
Each of the four parts was then looped ten times so in the end there would be an overall
length of thirty minutes per track. These were recorded to the two sides of a 120 minutes
cassette tape and replayed and sampled from another tape deck than was used for
recording. I call that one my "experimental tape deck" because the belts are quite loose, it
has a pitch control and worn out heads. So if the room temperature is right it produces a
nice phasing and wow/flutter.
The playback/recording results were re-imported to the DAW and a straight techno beat
from a kick drum sampled from the modular synth was added.
The kick is playing at 118bpm, so you maybe want to work out how often certain events
would meet exactly with the kick drum (seen on 30 minutes, and neglecting the factor of a
wonky playback...).
Surprisingly the results are intense and full of tension but also relaxing to listen to at the
same time.
Trium Circulorum
"Trium Circulorum" is a project by M.K.Hensel, formerly active as "3dtorus" and still active
under the moniker "Kanal Drei".
It has been born out of the necessity for a new outlet, as he felt to have found a certain
artistic style and voice after a long period of
experimentation in various styles and genres. "Trium Circulorum" is a dedicated cassette
tape (and accompanying digital) release project,
not because of a vague sense of retrophilia but out of the love for analog noise,
randomness, glitches and saturation. The self-released tapes
on his own Bandcamp page are strictly limited to small DIY editions and there will also be
occasional appearances on cassette tape labels in the future.
Entirely created by Trium Circulorum at lofreqlab, Germany.
