Tiger Tooth was conceived during a 5am slam poetry-interpretive dance session amongst Johnny Siera, Will Broussard and Sofia Szamosi in their East Village apartment. Sofia recited William Blake’s “The Tyger” while Johnny and Will experimented with dark techno beats. Johnny Siera and Sofia Szamosi first met over a tarot reading, when they discovered they each had a tiger tattoo on their bicep and a gold-crowned tooth; and so, the Tiger Tooth concept was sparked. Szamosi, (a fine and not-so-fine artist from New York City) and Siera (front man of art-punk band The Death Set and owner of nefarious NYC nightclub The Flat) were married a year later. In the midst of nuptial bliss and 24, 36 and 48-hour raves and techno-benders, they joined forces with The Death Set drummer and talented producer Will Broussard and wrote their first track. With Szamosi on video and visuals, and Broussard and Siera on analogue and digital machines, Tiger Tooth grew into a multi-faceted multimedia art project.
