Japan-for-U.S. original Varèse Sarabande CD issue of 1981 digital "World Premiere Recordings" (at least, at the time of this release!) of three contemporary, avant-garde works composed by Toru Takemitsu, performed by The Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, supervised by the composer and conducted by Hiroyuki Iwaki, and featuring marimba soloist Michiko Takahashi on "Gitimalya." The packaging features an eight-page booklet with liner notes by A.Takeda; brief biographical notes for the conductor, soloist, and orchestra by K. Nakamura (translated by Greg Merkley!); and color front and back covers, the former featuring a reproduction of a painting by an unidentified artist, and the latter featuring a black-and-white photo of the recording sessions. (The soloist's name is misspelled as "Michiki Takahashi" on the CD label!)
